Frequently Asked Questions
The size of the dumpster you need depends on the type and scale of your project, as well as how often you’d like us to empty it. Here’s a quick guide to help you choose:
- 10 Yard Dumpster: Ideal for small cleanouts, minor home renovations, or heavy materials like concrete, masonry, and soil. A 10 yard dumpster holds about 4 pick-up truckloads, or 60 contractor style trash bags.
- 20 Yard Dumpster: Best for mid-sized construction jobs and renovations, or heavier demolition debris. A 20 yard dumpster holds about 8 pick-up truckloads, or 120 contractor style trash bags.
- 30 Yard Dumpster: Perfect for large construction sites, major home renovations, and demolition projects. A 30 yard dumpster holds about 12 pick-up truckloads, or 180 contractor style trash bags.
If you’re unsure, our team can recommend the right size based on your project details. Just give us a call, and we’ll make sure you get the perfect fit!
The cost to rent a dumpster depends on several factors. Here’s what typically affects pricing:
- Dumpster Size: Larger dumpsters cost more due to their capacity. A small 10-yard dumpster will cost less than a 40-yard dumpster.
- Weight of Debris: Certain materials, like concrete and soil, can affect the price due to their weight.
- Rental Duration: Does your project need one drop off and pick up, or will your dumpster need to be emptied frequently?
- Location: Prices vary depending on your proximity to our service area in NYC and Northern New Jersey. Local fees and permits may also impact the overall cost.
To get an accurate quote, fill out our online form or contact us with your project details, and we’ll provide a competitive, upfront price with no hidden fees.
The most common surcharges are due to weight or an extension of the rental time. All potential surcharges are disclosed on your invoices and receipts. They are also disclosed on the website prior to processing your payment. You will not be charged any hidden fees. You will be notified of any and all potential surcharges.

Yes – but! Mixing most materials in the same dumpster is perfectly fine, however there may be times when it is in your best interest not to. For example:
- Keep in mind that heavy materials such as concrete, soil, or masonry can cause you to go over the maximum weight and result in surcharges.
- Certain materials, like excessive amounts of drywall, are better separated so they can be better recycled. But it’s up to you if you want to!
- Hazardous materials cannot be mixed with non-hazardous materials. Please contact us if you know or think you may be disposing of hazardous materials. If you do not disclose hazardous materials, you will be fined.
We service all 5 boroughs in NYC, and most counties in Northern, NJ. See our full list of areas we serve here.
- For homeowner projects in NYC, we will supply the street permit. Please give us at least 24 hours notice before your expected delivery date so we have time to acquire the permit. Contractors must acquire their own permits.
- If your project is in New Jersey, we are unable to obtain permits on your behalf. You will need to contact your local city hall and request a permit to park a dumpster in the street.
- If you order your dumpster online, you will pay via credit card or ACH directly from our website.
- If you order your dumpster via phone or email, you will be sent a PDF quote via Docusign where you can pay with a credit card or ACH payment.
- If you are a large contractor and require a purchase order or a different method of payment through your accounting department, please contact our office to set up your payment before placing an order.
No. We do not provide labor to move items. All items are expected to be inside the dumpster when we arrive for pick-up. The dumpster cannot be overfilled or overflowing for the safety of our drivers, other motorists, and pedestrians.

We offer three types of mini containers: metal, plastic, and cardboard. Mini containers are perfect for job sites with limited space or for contractors who need a smaller, more maneuverable waste solution. They are easy to place and move around the site, making them a great fit for tight urban areas, high-rise buildings, or projects with limited access.
- Metal minis are perfect for disposing of debris in places where a full dumpster cannot reach, so you won’t have to carry every piece of scrap out to the dumpster by hand.
- Plastic minis are similar to metal minis, but they’re perfect for finished interior projects and the drywall phase of your projects because they won’t cause damage the way metal can.
- Cardboard boxes are a perfect option for LEED projects that require you to separate materials at the source and transport them separately to the recycling facility.
We typically reserve our mini containers for contractors. They are designed to meet the specific needs of construction, renovation, and demolition professionals who require compact, efficient debris management solutions on-site.
Homeowners don’t typically need them because there are more cost effective options for most home projects and smaller renovation jobs. We will be happy to help you evaluate your situation and make the best decision for your project.
Mini containers come in a range of sizes, and while they are more compact than traditional roll-off dumpsters, they still hold a significant amount of debris.
Yes! Our cardboard boxes are specifically designed for source-separating materials for recycling. However, all of our mini containers can be used for that purpose. We will service all mini containers set aside for recycling with a box truck that will transport each load back to our facility fully-separated. See more about our recycling initiatives here.
There are a few options for servicing your mini containers depending on your needs.
- Metal and plastic mini containers can be emptied into our packer trucks. We will then transport your debris back to our facility and leave the empty mini containers onsite for you to use again.
- Cardboard boxes are designed to be picked up by our box trucks and taken back to our facility for recycling. These boxes are for separating material types on site. We can also transport metal and plastic mini containers this way if you prefer to use them. If you need more, we can deliver new containers with the empty box truck when we arrive.
- Metal and plastic mini containers can also be emptied into a larger dumpster by your team if you prefer. Some choose to empty debris from the minis off of a loading dock and into a dumpster below.
